Luker Cops Two Classes During Gene Romero West Coast Flat Track Series

PETALUMA, CA, Aug 17 – Patchy clouds and sun combined with a table-top smooth and lightning fast track on Petaluma Speedway’s annual Gene Romero West Coast Flat Track Series Event sponsored by G&B Kawasaki-Yamaha. Two-wheeled action started with point leader Ryan Foster eclipsing the 18-bike field with an 18.04 effort during qualifying for the K&N Open Division.  From that point on it was all 16-year old Andrew Luker as he picked up the trophy dash, heat and main event wins.  Second in the 16-lap feature event was veteran Tony Meiring, third was Jimmy Monaco.  For the third year in a row it was Robert McDonnell wining the Saddleman Vintage Class.  Joining McDonnell on the podium were Gary Durbin and Mitch Gallagher.  The always impressive McDonnell swept the program for vintage bikes in the 441cc – 750cc class, netting fast time, the trophy dash, and preliminary heat.  In the 450 Top Gun Division it was again Luker defeating the competition over Damon Coca and Michael Inderbitzin.  The Classic Open Division for riders over 35 was won for the second year in a row by Robert Bacosa on his potent Rotax mount.  Second was local Petaluma Rider Chris Baker and third was Mitch Gallagher.  Petaluma Speedway will be back in action this Saturday Night, August 24th with both the Pit Stop USA Winged 360 and Spec Sprint Car Divisions plus the Carr Racing Chassis IMCA Modifieds, Lumberjack Restaurant Super Stocks, and Mini Stock Divisions.  For more information please go to www.petaluma-speedway.com.
